Tara Abedinitafreshi, M.Arch 2017

Tara is an Iranian-born architectural designer with over seven years of experience at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture in her hometown Tehran in 2012 before moving to the United States to pursue her Master’s in Architecture at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she was recognized with multiple honors, including the Graduate Studio Award for Outstanding Studio Project and the AIA Henry Adams Medal.

Upon graduating in 2018, Tara joined BIG’s New York office. During her time at BIG, Tara has contributed to a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from large-scale urban developments to cultural and mixed-use buildings across North America, Europe, and Asia, contributing to the development of innovative architectural solutions, engaging with complex design challenges, and collaborating across interdisciplinary teams.

Recently, she transitioned to BIG’s Los Angeles office, which was established to expand the firm’s presence on the West Coast. As part of this endeavor, she has taken on a design leadership role, helping to shape the identity and direction of the Santa Monica office while continuing to push the boundaries of architectural design.
