Study Abroad Book 2017
The study abroad program at the AAU School of Architecture is an intensive course that explores canonical works of contemporary built architecture within a certain region. The concepts that underline these works from the big idea to the smallest detail as well as their larger role in recent architectural discourse will be the focus of our investigation throughout the summer semester. The class culminates in site visits to these buildings, which are usually high profile works of world renowned architects as well as some historical examples throughout the region in focus of the class.
Guided tours, discussions and lectures on site will be an integral part of the experience. In the Summer of 2017 the class traveled to London, England, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Berlin, Germany. The students visited and experienced over 100 buildings within the course of 18 days. This book contains the selected works and has been put together by all course participants before the trip, it served as a travel journal and textbook during the journey and is available in our onsite Brannan Branch Library.
