SCB Foundation Scholarship

SCB announces our Charitable Foundation and Scholarship Program to support aspiring architects, designers, and planners. The program offers a $5,000 scholarship and a paid summer internship at one of our offices in Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, or Seattle.

Open to undergraduate students in the 3rd-year or above.

Eligibility Criteria

• Enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited (NAAB, CIDA, PAB) four- or five-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
• A member of an underrepresented minority group.
• In need of financial assistance to pursue their studies.
• Able to work legally in the United States and participate in a 3-month, paid summer internship at one of SCB’s offices (Chicago, Boston, San Francisco or Seattle).

Application Requirements

All attachments to be in PDF format and not exceeding 10MB in size for each upload. All applications must be completed and submitted via the online SCB Foundation Submission form. Please do not e-mail any application material. Please only upload the requested and required documents.

Applications must include:

• A response (500 words maximum) to the prompt.
• A resume including work experience, education, and community service activities.
• A letter of recommendation from an instructor or dean.
• A portfolio of design work completed by the applicant. (maximum 5 pages)

Additional Information

• Scholarship funds are unrestricted in their use to best support the needs of students.
• Internships will be in-person at one of SCB’s office locations. The positions will be full-time during standard business hours for a 3-month period prior to the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
• Scholarship awardees may select the SCB office at which they will complete their internship.
• Compensation for the internship will be hourly at current rates based on the region.
• A stipend for living expenses or travel incurred during the paid internship is not provided.
• A recipient of the SCB Foundation Scholarship is not excluded from reapplying in subsequent years provided they continue to meet the scholarship criteria.
