Our fully equipped fabrication shop on the 1st floor at 601 Brannan St. offers woodworking, metalworking, and digital fabrication. Students have the opportunity to work hands-on to explore different materials and techniques.
The shop is staffed by highly qualified technicians to support students with a wide range of projects – from intricate architectural models, to custom furniture pieces, to full-scale fabrication. Brannan Shop Supervisor, Calvin Malone, and Shop Technician, Sage DuRivage, help students determine best ways to implement fabrication. Students find their knowledge of specific assignments in architecture courses especially helpful.
The wood shop has hand tools, table saws, drill presses, and a host of other tools. Please see list below.
The metal shop has welding, grinding, and cutting tools. Please see list below.
Digital fabrication equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC routers are deeply embedded into our curriculum. Students learn to use these tools and apply them into their design process. Please see list below.

Shop hours are reviewed each semester by Director of Lab Resources and School of Architecture Directors for alignment with architecture class times and student needs.
