Plants create space, drama and visual interest in the landscape throughout the seasons. Learn how to select the right plant to achieve the desired effect. You’ll apply your drafting and rendering skills to present planting plans and planting details.

Prerequisites for graduate students: IAD 608

Prerequisites for undergraduate students: LAN 223 or IAD 260 or ARH 180

Course Learning Outcomes

 

  • Create comprehensive planting plans and plant schedules for specific sites
  • Create basic irrigation zone plans grouping plants by hydrozones
  • Recognize regulatory constraints in creating landscapes for public and private projects
  • Create plant palettes in response to site conditions and client requests
  • Identify plant species appropriate for the site ecology and climate
