
LAN 611/311 Landscape Architecture Design Studio
Building upon information gained in previous courses, students will combine graphic skills, technical knowledge, and site inventory and analysis in order to collaboratively focus on the creation of sustainable, accessible and more livable public outdoor spaces. Emphasis will be placed on effectively applying each step of the design process. (This course is cross-listed with LAN 311.)
Course Learning Outcomes
- Identify the macro and micro influences and context surrounding a particular site based on a thorough site inventory and analysis.
- Gather public input into quantitative and qualitative analysis and incorporate that into the design
- Design flexible/interchangeable urban spaces that anticipate a variety of user needs
- Develop and discuss multiple and distinct concepts for consideration and evaluation
- Effectively defend and clearly articulate rationale for design decisions
- Communicate conceptual thinking through a variety of appropriate drawing types, models, and writing
- Collaborate throughout design process in order to synthesize research, observations, and analysis into coherent, relevant and compelling design proposals
