
LA 117 Survey of Landscape Architecture
Today’s landscape architect is a dynamic, passionate professional. You’ll gain a brief history of the profession and focus on the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of landscape architecture in the 21st century. (This course is cross-listed with LAN 117.)
Course Learning Outcomes
- Describe in general terms the historical foundation and the precedents of the profession
- Discuss the criteria by which landscape architects analyze and evaluate space.
- Describe and evaluate the landscape architect’s roles, skills, responsibilities and working relationships to other design professionals, in both the public and private realms.
- Discuss key terms, personalities, theories, and concepts specific to the field of landscape architecture.
- Identify and analyze environmental issues as they relate to and influence the practice of landscape architecture.
