Naima Sweeting

Naima Sweeting is a licensed Landscape Architect, with almost 20 years of combined experience in the architecture and landscape architecture professions. A native of New York City, Naima received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in architecture from Cornell University. After practicing in various architecture offices in New York City, including Skidmore Owings and Merrill, The Rockwell Group, Meyer Davis Design and Studio Sofield, she returned to school and received dual Masters degrees in Landscape Architecture and Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
Specializing in the conservation of archaeological sites within the historic preservation department, she was formally trained as an architectural conservator and studied hydrology sites and how ancient technologies might be used to address current issues such as water scarcity.
Following this, she worked at various landscape architecture offices in the Bay Area, including Strata Landscape Architecture and David Thorne Landscape Architect. Keen to find ways to integrate architecture and landscape in her projects, Naima has also taught design studios and introductory courses in architecture at Cornell University, New York Institute of Technology and City College of New York, always emphasizing the importance of designing structures for a specific landscape and climate.
