
LAN 612/312 Landscape Architecture Sustainable Studio
Building upon the various skills and knowledge gained in previous courses, students will collaboratively focus on the creation of public outdoor spaces that are sustainable, equitable, and accessible to all. Emphasis will be placed on examining each step of the design process. (This course is cross-listed with LAN 312.)
Course Learning Outcomes
- Identify the macro and micro influences and context surrounding a particular site based on a thorough site inventory and analysis
- Gather public input into quantitative and qualitative analysis and incorporate that into the design
- Design flexible/interchangeable urban spaces that anticipate a variety of user needs and reflect principles of social justice, equity and anti-racism
- Develop and discuss multiple and distinct concepts for consideration and evaluation
- Effectively defend and clearly articulate rationale for design decisions
- Communicate conceptual thinking through a variety of appropriate drawing types, models, and writing
- Collaborate throughout design process in order to synthesize research, observations, and analysis into coherent, relevant and compelling design proposals
