Amber Book ARE Test Prep for IPAL Students
School of Architecture provides 20 of our IPAL students with free access to Amber Book test prep material. Create a schedule for when you would like to start taking the architectural licensing exams. Contact the IPAL Advisor to request an Amber Book seat. The process to add a new IPAL student takes several weeks so allow time.
Students inactive on Amber Book will be asked to be removed so that other students who are actively studying for the exams can have a seat.
Amber Book offers:
- Free study sessions on Zoom (every Thu 6pm EST) https://www.amberbook.com/40-minutes-of-competence/
 - One-on-one 20-minute help session https://www.amberbook.com/20moh/

Amber Book founder Michael Erman offered an information session for ARH in Fall 2025. Zoom recording is at this link. Highlights from the info session:
- Study for all 6 ARE exams as one big test (85% overlap across exam divisions)
 - Schedule an exam and then study rather than waiting to be ready to schedule the exam
 - Technical concepts and professional practice concepts have 10:1 ratio in terms of content covered in the exams
 - If your scaled score was 505 (out of 800), then you were prepared for the exam (but missed the cut score by just a few questions)
