Goetz Frank
Undergraduate Faculty
Goetz Frank ably straddles the design world and technical world. He possesses a sensibility toward high-quality community projects and is attuned to both craftsmanship and construction.
Notably, Goetz saw SFJAZZ, the United States’ first ground-up concert hall dedicated to jazz music, to its completion, serving as design lead architect and project architect on the highly technical and complex structure. He contributed significantly to the design of the project and led technical coordination, detailing, and construction administration.
Goetz is personally interested in a holistic organic approach to architecture that reacts equally to context, environment, and function while creating an architectural form. Authentic architecture that reflects the forces around it and has a readable relationship to the systems and materials that comprise it excite him. He believes that great ideas should be well-constructed, well-documented, priced early, and shepherded through the construction process in order to be built to fruition, and is dedicated to ensuring the success of each step of the design process.
