Set the foundation for your architecture studies using concepts and skills in written, spoken, and visual form. You’ll learn the principal concepts of architecture by engaging in an iterative design process where you develop conceptual and spatial ideas through deliberate experimentation.

Software: Rhino, Adobe Creative Cloud

Course Learning Outcomes

 

  • Recognize, discuss, and apply fundamentals of architectural design methods and experimental thinking
  • Apply spatial and aesthetical thinking at different scales from an object to a building
  • Explore and apply vital techniques to draft and model designs using orthographic projection, and visualization skills
  • Explore formfinding through experimental analysis of found objects and existing case studies
  • Identify and create proper use of lineweight conventions, 3D-modeling skills with Rhino, 2D drafting, rendering with Photoshop, and basic physical modeling exercises
  • Describe a simple design proposal using site plan, plan, section and elevations
  • Research, analyze and interpret the work of historically significant architects using academically appropriate primary and secondary sources
