Peter Strzebniok

Architecture Faculty

Peter Strzebniok is originally from Germany and has been living in the United States since 1994. He has architectural degrees from Germany and the US and is a licensed architect in California as well as in Germany and the European Union.

Peter has 14 years of professional experience with a broad project range from large-scale civic buildings, universities and museums to restaurants, residential and small-scale commercial projects.

Peter has collaborated on several significant design projects in Europe and in the United States. In addition to OMA’s Student Center at the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Jewish Museum in San Francisco by Daniel Libeskind, he has been working on the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Chong Partners.

Peter is the founding principal of the award winning architectural firm nottoscale, is currently teaching at the California Academy of Arts and has taught at Woodbury University in Burbank California. In addition to that he is a frequent critic at the University of Berkeley as well as the California College of Arts.

Peter is a member of the prestigious “Studienstifung” in Germany and graduated from the Technical University in Berlin, Germany with a Diploma in Architecture and received a full scholarship to attend Ball State University, Indiana where he completed his Masters of Architecture degree in 1996.

Peter’s work has been published in numerous national and international media among which are The New York Times, Forbes, Wallpapaer, Globe+Mail, The National Post, Ottagono, Corriere della Sera, Shanghai Bund Pictoral, Architectural record as well as in numerous books.

He has won one of the main prices in the Home House Project competition of the Southeastern Center of Contemporary Art and has received an honorable mention in the international design competition Icono Urbano by COARQ for a highrise in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In addition to that Peter is a founding member of SAATarchitecrture and is currently working on a project in Ghana – West Africa where he is researching local building materials and methods in order to design a modular system for the construction of a school in Accra, Ghana.
