Sustainability Workshops
B Arch students in ARH 450 Studio 8 and ARH 410 Studio 7 can attend the Sustainability Technical Advisor Workshops live or view recordings afterwards. Later in the semester, each student / team is required to meet live with the Technical Advisor, Liz, to document feedback received as evidence of applying energy analysis in their design processes. There are several NAAB accreditation-critical learning outcomes and this is one of them. All NAAB requirements must be clearly documented in the course archives for students to receive a passing grade.

Recording of Workshop #4 Climate Studio Thermal Simulation
This session is specifically focused on the thermal/EUI simulation that is included within ClimateStudio. It is process that includes a handful of steps in the modeling process but it does result in useful information for your early design phases (pre-design and SD into a bit of DD).
Resources from ClimateStudio Documentation:
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Thermal Analysis (start here for the overview)
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Thermal Model (review next)
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Thermal Zones (step 1 of building the thermal model)
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Windows (step 2)
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Shading (step 3)
-
Resources – ClimateStudio Systems (optional step 5 for more advanced projects, can keep on default for building type and climate zone if wanted)
