Malik Louis Wins the Walker Warner Scholarship

Third year BArch student, Malik Louis, is the recipient of the 2024 Walker Warner Scholarship!

Malik, who goes by Lou, started his architectural education online while on active military duty stationed in Portugal. He is one of the most humble and resilient persons we’ve met who can stay optimistic even when faced with obstacles. His path to architecture school has been a long one. He joined the military as a way for him to attend college, but he had to spend 3 years in a different major before he could study architecture. He has been persistent in pursuing his childhood dream of becoming an architect especially because within his community in the South, architecture is not a realistic path due to the long years required and the expense associated with it. Now that he is on his path, he is driven by his passion and excitement. He is also an artist actively participating in the community of Oakland artists celebrating Black Joy.

In addition to the scholarship, Lou will join Walker Warner this summer for an internship.

Please join us in congratulating him!
