Course Description

Get an introduction to the art, theory, and science of construction. Understand the relationships in-between design, technology, structures, and space on a broad and holistic level. Explore exemplary architectural concepts in relation to their structure and resulting spatial expression.

Course Learning Outcome

As a result of successfully completing this course, students…

  • Will be able to:

    • Identify and illustrate basic elements of building construction
    • Exhibit a comprehension of the main principles in the construction of architecture
    • Identify and understand the different forces that come in to play in load bearing structures
    • Research, analyze and interpret structural concepts with architectural significance
    • Apply the knowledge of this course to develop feasible architectural design schemes
