Architectural Designer – Senior – Architecture  Oakland, CA

Your Role

As a Gensler Architectural/Technical Designer, you will collaborate with our Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect’s sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise.  Your work ethic, combined with your commitment to collaboration and mentoring, makes Gensler the perfect place to nurture your career.

What You Will Do

• Design and plan complex architectural projects of varying types
• Manage multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
• Manage client relationships and team communication
• Resolve complex technical and design issues
• Maintain the project manual and specifications
• Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
• Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction
• Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project

Your Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Architecture or Design preferred, with a rigorous design education
• 15+ years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale, including core and shell buildings
• International design experience a plus
• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3ds Max
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Outstanding graphic presentation skills
• Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents
• Proven ability to lead and direct design teams and projects
• Conceptual designer and thinker
