Architectural Designer – Senior – Architecture Oakland, CA
Your Role
As a Gensler Architectural/Technical Designer, you will collaborate with our Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect’s sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do
- Design and plan complex architectural projects of varying types
- Manage multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
- Manage client relationships and team communication
- Resolve complex technical and design issues
- Maintain the project manual and specifications
- Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
- Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction
- Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project
Your Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Architecture or Design preferred, with a rigorous design education
- 15+ years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale, including core and shell buildings
- International design experience a plus
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and 3ds Max
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Outstanding graphic presentation skills
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents
- Proven ability to lead and direct design teams and projects
- Conceptual designer and thinker
